Unwelcome Guests Part I

Unwelcome Guests Part I

A UH-60 Black Hawk hovered twenty feet above a decrepit apartment building in Chicago, four operatives leapt out, down to the rooftop. Task Force Yaeger had deployed a team - Yaeger IV -  on a “Top Priority” Operation.

Across the street, a soon-to-be renovated apartment building was sealed off, the entire block evacuated under the guise of a major gas leak. Quickly scaling down from their LZ, they approached their target structure. Within they could sense movement, dozens of organisms.

Yeager IV entered the building, immediately greeted by the bodies of those who entered prior. An adolescent “Creeper” - about the size of a young adult - hovered over one of the bodies, preoccupied. It turned its head, but before it could react, it was extinguished. Its body slumped down as the brass casings clanged against the rotting floor.

Down the hall, a heavy stride quickly gained pace, as a matured Creeper unsuspectingly confronted the team. Below, the others began to take notice, like a hive of bees.

While previously studied to be an isolated species - only going after underdeveloped countries and small towns - they had grown brazen. The Creepers within containment continue to hide their intelligence, attempting to communicate with one another in secret. It’s hard to say for certain their larger goal.

Further “enhanced” tests will be necessary to elicit substantial and satisfactory results, but for now, this isn’t a study - this is a Hunt.
